China-Shanghai

If you see my previous post, you can consider that my trip goes to Shanghai, China was about ISCES conference...

Anyway, I spend my time to go along some destination places that recommended around Shanghai. I couldn't spend much more time, because the schedule was full enough..

- Arrival date to Shanghai..

My friend (Grace) pick me up at Pudong International Airport (Thanks God to send me that kind of nice friend,,hehehe..). We took a bus, because she said that metro (MRT) was very horrible, full, lot of people.But, while We've taken a bus, we could be sight seeing around Shanghai...

I concern about the social and culture of the country, especially of the environment behavior. China has a large number of population, and it will be visible in their community in the huge apartment.

China's Civilization

In Indonesia, we have a great number of population, around 228 million population (the forth largest population in the world after China and India). But, the condition it's so different. My country have the horizontal spread of the growth civilization, and it will be consume more land.

-Finally, I was arrive in the Tongji University. Honestly, this is my first time I have been seen that looking for many more foreigner student in university. It was very interesting,  found student from another country..

-After I got check in International Foreign student apartment, the committee's ISCES arrange some field trip get around in Tongji University. The green campus and the aquarium (actually, there's some real aquarium in the city. But, I don't know why they just took us into Naval Department ==")

-We have chance to look around in one of the apartment that could be see the scenery of Shanghai... I think..It was very beautiful city,

-In the evening, Suddenly we met the moslem community in Tongji University. We have dinner together in the halal food restaurant.

Anyway, This is my first day in Shanghai..

I hope it will be a great experience to me and make a new sight of the world,

ISCES 2013

It's all started with an email from a friend.,

ISCES (International Student Conference Environment and Sutainability).

A world-class annual student conference that discussed the environment and sustainability.

ISCES 2013, with 5 focus subtopics: Food; Health; Ecosystem; Green Consumption; Green City.

Yeah! the annual conference organized by UNEP and Tongji University as a host and will invite students from all parts of the world. The most excite thing is that they will give some full scholarship include the flight and the accommodation. However, you must create a poster and some video project (for scholarships). Therefore, you must be a creative and innovative student. It was very exciting!!

At the first, I just write it down in my note about the list deadline and try to contact with my lecture in Indonesia to get some recommendation. (Prof.Joni and Dr.Edot) Thanks for the recommendation. Actually, I brought my previous university name in this conference, Institute Technology Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya. Because I bring my material related to my study in Indonesia.

Incidentally in the weeks progress exams and deadlines for the lab to the professor, it becomes quite difficult to provide a special time making posters and videos.

But, anyway I just finished my poster and video (Video's photo actually, hahaha) just in 2 days.

In the same week, I have to go back to Indonesia to attend my sister wedding...

So, I will prepare my Visa in Indonesia, if I accepted in This conference..

The announcement has been informed, and I accepted being participant in this conference. But, it wasn't the scholarship announcement. They’ll inform us in the next 2-3 days...

And the next two days,, Thanks God,, I was accepted in ISCES 2013 with scholarship!!

Remain in 2 weeks departure and preparing some material, it was very tough time for me..

3). Material, include PPT and Video 

(Actually, They really like my video that figure out the picture of sanitation condition in Indonesia. They want me to make some short presentation about those kind)

4).Progress lab in my lab...

Seriously, I just pray to my God, if this is my way.. Just make it flow and smoother..

because, I just have last 1 week to prepare my VISA, while I was in Indonesia..

At the same time, my sister wedding was going fine and gratify..

Finally, I got my Visa, at 24 May 3013...and next 2 days, I have to go back to Taiwan... :)

With 14 days duration stay..

Berkaca di Formosa

Yesterday, was a great time..

Beranjak dari kebimbangan, atau lebih seringnya disebut dengan kegalauan,,hehe...

Ulfah memutuskan untuk berangkat ke Taipei..

Tidak terasa sudah hampir 1 tahun, menjalani studi master di Taiwan dan disadari atau tidak, waktu benar-bebar terasa lebih cepat disini. Menjalani kuliah di Tainan, Taiwan dengan kondisi pedesaan yang jauh dr Kota Taipei. Yups,, Taipei, ibukota "negara" Taiwan. Actually, Taiwan is not country, yet, (I will explain it later, maybe in the difference article side). Bisa dikatakan baru 3 minggu yang lalu menuju ke Taipei untuk mengunjungi dosen yang berkunjung ke Taiwan. 

Oke, back to my trip stories..

sama senior kuliah, berangkat menuju Taipei dengan bus Ubus dengan harga 350 NT (1NT=+-300Rp). Seukuran mahasiswa yang hidup dengan berbeasiswa, menurut saya tiket 350NT (one way), itu merupakan biaya trip yang cukup mahal. Sebelumnya berspekulasi dan berkakulasi panjang mengenai ketercukupan beasiswa untuk 1 bulan kedepan, maka dengan tekad membara saya memutuskan untuk berangkat ke Taipei dengan niat tidak jalan2, tidak shoping2, dan hanya untuk beribadah!! Bismillahirahmanirrahim....

Berangkat pukul 04.00a.m dan tiba di Taipei Main Station (TMS) pada pukul 08.30 a.m (4-5jam perjalanan). Menunggu anggota pengajian di Taipei Train Station..dan..begitu banyak Ulfah liat para pekerja TKI,TKW yang bertemu rekan. Dengan kondisi ini, secara flashback dan mirror, saya mereflkesi apa yang terjadi di negara saya saat ini.

Senior saya berkata bahwa, tempat ini merupakan salah satu tempat berkumpulnya para pekerja Indonesia di Taipei. Menurut saya, ada beberapa tipe gaya dari pekerja Indonesia. Pertama, pekerja yang terkesan dengan gaya yang cukup "memaksakan" mengikuti trend-trend korean style dan pekerja dengan pakaian yg khas, berjilbab. Mencari pekerjaan dengan gaji yang cukup tinggi dibandingkan dnegan bekerja di negara sendiri. Disamping itu semua, yang lebih penting adalah bagaimana fenomena problematika ini muncul baik di kedua negara ini (Indonesia-Taiwan).

Mayoritas pekerja di Taiwan, adalah dari Indonesia (selain dari Vietnam dll). Kata senior saya, permasalahan pertemuan  berkelompok di TMS (Taipei Main Station) sudah menjadi issues di Taiwan sendiri. Awalnya, mereka tidak diperbolehkan untuk bertemu di tempat-tempat publik. Namun, karena ada kondisi pemerintah mengadakan acara di tempat umum untuk mengumpulkan para pekerja tsbt. Maka, para pekerja berusaha untuk memprotes kebijakan larangan berkumpul di tempat umum.

Konteks di negara Indonesia pun, lebih menarik. DImana bukan hanya di Taiwan, pekerja pahlawan devisa ini terkesan tidak mendapatkan "human rights" yang layak untuk bekerja di negara asing. SIngapura, Malaysia, Hongkong, dan negara-negara lain sering terdenngar adanya tindak pelecehan, ataupun kekerasan.
